The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to child welfare and nutrition following a meeting with Dr. Princess Aderemi Adebowale, the National Programme Manager of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, at Lagos House, Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that discussions during the courtesy visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the national school feeding initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of pupils across the state. He noted that proper nutrition remains essential to the academic performance, physical development and overall welfare of children.
According to the governor, Lagos State continues to prioritise policies and programmes that support quality education and create a conducive learning environment for students. He explained that ensuring children have access to nutritious meals in schools is critical to building a healthier and more productive future generation.
Sanwo-Olu said the alignment between Lagos State and the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme would further strengthen existing efforts aimed at improving nutrition among school children while also supporting local food production and economic opportunities for communities.
The governor added that the state government recognises the importance of partnerships with federal agencies and development programmes in addressing challenges affecting children and education. He expressed optimism that continued collaboration would enhance the effectiveness and reach of school feeding initiatives across Lagos.
Dr. Princess Aderemi Adebowale also commended the Lagos State Government’s efforts in promoting child welfare and educational development. The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both parties to ensuring that children receive the nutrition and support needed to thrive academically and socially.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed that investing in children remains central to the long-term development agenda of Lagos State.
