
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Lagos as a globally competitive economic hub, stressing the need for sustained investment in infrastructure, innovation, and business-friendly policies.
Speaking as the keynote speaker at the Citadel School of Government Geo-Economic Optimization Summit, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the strategic steps being taken to transform Lagos from a dominant regional economy into a recognized player on the global stage.
According to the governor, the ambition to elevate Lagos’ international standing is bold but achievable through deliberate planning, consistent execution, and a commitment to long-term development goals. He noted that the state government is focused on creating an enabling environment that attracts local and foreign investments while fostering economic growth across key sectors.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that infrastructure development remains central to his administration’s agenda, citing ongoing efforts to improve transportation networks, expand public services, and strengthen critical facilities needed to support business activities. He added that these investments are designed to enhance productivity, improve the quality of life for residents, and reinforce Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The governor also stressed the importance of maintaining policy consistency and delivering measurable results to sustain investor confidence and drive economic competitiveness. He urged stakeholders across the public and private sectors to work collaboratively toward achieving the shared vision of a globally relevant Lagos.
“Moving Lagos beyond being a regional power to becoming a true player on the global stage requires dedication, innovation, and sustained commitment,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The Geo-Economic Optimization Summit brought together policymakers, academics, business leaders, and development experts to discuss strategies for economic transformation and sustainable growth. The event served as a platform for examining opportunities and challenges in positioning subnational economies for greater global relevance and competitiveness.
