Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Teslim Balogun Stadium and other sports facilities across the State, expressing satisfaction with the progress of work.
The Governor disclosed that the natural grass pitch at the stadium has been completed, while the new tartan track is expected to be ready in the coming weeks. He added that indoor halls, swimming pools and other facilities are also being upgraded ahead of the arrival of thousands of young athletes from across Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu said the State has, over the past three years, embarked on the rehabilitation of sports centres in Surulere, Ikorodu, Epe, Agege and Badagry to provide young people with quality sporting facilities close to their communities.
He reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to nurturing young talents, promoting sports development and creating opportunities for the next generation of Nigerian athletes.
“Lagos is ready and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of Nigerian athletes,” the Governor said.
