Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents that the Alakija Bridge is safe, structurally sound and ready for use following an attempt by vandals to damage part of the structure.
The Governor, who inspected the bridge earlier today, commended security personnel from the Police, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), Task Force and Neighbourhood Safety Corps for their swift response in securing the area.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that some suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend others involved in the act. He warned that anyone caught attempting to destroy public infrastructure in Lagos will face the full force of the law.
The Governor also reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor, noting that the ongoing clean-up exercise is already yielding visible results.
He urged Lagosians to work together to protect public infrastructure and maintain the safety and security of the State.
