
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday received the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja.
The Governor welcomed the Sierra Leonean leader to Lagos, reaffirming the state’s commitment to strengthening relationships with neighbouring countries and promoting greater cooperation across the West African region.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described Lagos as a welcoming destination for its West African neighbours, noting that the state remains open to partnerships that can create shared opportunities and contribute to regional development.
The Governor said engagements between leaders across the region were important in deepening existing ties and exploring areas of mutual interest that could benefit citizens and businesses in both countries.
He also emphasised the importance of people-to-people relationships, economic cooperation and regional partnerships in building a stronger and more connected West Africa.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed delight at the opportunity to receive President Bio in Lagos, describing the visit as another demonstration of the strong bonds that exist between Nigeria, Sierra Leone and other countries in the region.
He assured the Sierra Leonean President of Lagos State’s traditional hospitality and warm welcome, stressing that the state would continue to provide an enabling environment for collaboration and meaningful engagements.
The visit further highlights Lagos’ growing role as a major economic and diplomatic hub in Africa, with the state continuing to attract leaders, investors and stakeholders from across the continent.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said Lagos would continue to support initiatives that strengthen regional cooperation and create opportunities for economic growth, investment and shared prosperity.
He welcomed President Bio to Lagos and expressed his best wishes for a successful stay, reaffirming the state’s readiness to deepen its relationship with Sierra Leone and other West African neighbours.
