Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has received an Honorary Fellowship Award from the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) at the 2026 Management Roundtable held at Lagos House, Marina.
The award was presented to the Governor in recognition of his contributions to leadership, public administration and institutional development in Lagos State.
The 2026 Management Roundtable was held under the theme, “Managing Transition for Continuity,” focusing on the importance of sustaining effective governance, policies and institutions beyond individual administrations.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised the need for governments to build strong institutions and policies capable of surviving changes in political leadership.
According to him, governance should not be approached as a process that begins afresh whenever a new administration takes office. Rather, successive governments should build on existing foundations, improve successful programmes and ensure that beneficial policies continue to serve the people.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos State was committed to developing institutions that could endure over time and deliver effective services to residents regardless of changes in leadership.
He stressed that continuity remained essential to achieving sustainable development, explaining that government policies and projects often require long-term planning and consistent implementation to deliver their full benefits.
The Governor described the theme of the Management Roundtable as particularly relevant to the development of Lagos, noting that institutional stability and continuity were necessary for effective governance.
He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) for the honorary recognition, describing the award as a reflection of the confidence and trust placed in his administration.
Sanwo-Olu also commended the institute for creating a platform for discussions on management, leadership and governance, saying such engagements were important for strengthening public and private sector institutions.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building sustainable structures and policies that would continue to benefit Lagos residents beyond the tenure of any single government.
