Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) to embrace continuous learning, patience and purposeful leadership as they prepare to take on greater responsibilities in their careers and public service.
The Governor gave the advice while hosting the 2025/2026 Cohort of the LJLA for their final mentorship session at Lagos House, Marina.
The session offered the Fellows an opportunity to interact directly with the Governor and gain first-hand insights into the realities of leadership, governance, decision-making and public administration.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged the Fellows to remain committed to personal and professional development, stressing that effective leaders must be willing to learn continuously and adapt to changing circumstances.
He also urged them to be patient with the leadership process, noting that meaningful transformation requires consistency, discipline and a long-term commitment to service.
The Governor emphasised that leadership should not be measured merely by positions held or responsibilities assigned, but by the quality of solutions delivered and the positive impact created in society.
He encouraged the Fellows to approach leadership with a strong sense of responsibility and remain focused on addressing challenges confronting their communities and the wider society.
The mentorship session marked another significant milestone in the LJLA programme, which seeks to equip young Nigerians with practical leadership knowledge and exposure to governance.
Through engagements with experienced leaders and professionals, the Academy provides Fellows with opportunities to better understand public administration, policy development and the responsibilities that come with leadership.
