The Youth Bureau has applauded the appointment of Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru to the campaign committee, describing his inclusion as an important reminder to young Nigerians that competence, preparation and active participation can create pathways to meaningful leadership.
The organisation noted that Senator Basiru’s background as a lawyer, former legislator and senior political figure offers young Nigerians an example of how professional knowledge can be combined with public service.
According to the Youth Bureau, political leadership requires more than popularity. It requires an understanding of policy, law, institutions, communication and the concerns of ordinary citizens.
“Senator Basiru’s career demonstrates the importance of building knowledge and experience before seeking to make an impact in public life. His appointment is therefore significant not only politically but also as a lesson for young Nigerians aspiring to leadership,” the organisation stated.
The Youth Bureau encouraged young Nigerians to invest in education, develop professional expertise and participate responsibly in civic and political activities.
The organisation also stressed the importance of creating opportunities for young people within political structures, noting that today’s young participants are tomorrow’s leaders.
“We encourage young Nigerians to study governance, understand policy and participate constructively. Leadership is not something that begins when you receive an appointment; it begins with preparation.”
The group congratulated Senator Ajibola Basiru and expressed confidence that his experience would contribute positively to the committee.
