The Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG) has welcomed the appointment of Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru to the campaign committee, describing his inclusion as a recognition of his intellectual capacity, political experience and understanding of party administration.
The organisation said Senator Basiru brings a combination of legal expertise, legislative experience and political organisation to the assignment.
In a statement signed by Convener Razaq Olokoba, CDG noted that Basiru’s experience as a former Senator representing Osun Central and his subsequent role within the All Progressives Congress have given him a broad understanding of legislative processes, party structures and political mobilisation.
“Senator Ajibola Basiru has demonstrated that competence remains an important ingredient of effective political organisation. His legal background, legislative experience and knowledge of party administration make his appointment a valuable one,” Olokoba stated.
The group said campaign structures require individuals who understand both policy and political communication, adding that Basiru’s experience places him in a strong position to contribute to the committee’s responsibilities.
CDG further commended the decision to include individuals with different areas of expertise in the committee.
The organisation expressed confidence that Basiru would bring discipline, strategic thinking and organisational ability to the assignment.
“We congratulate Senator Ajibola Basiru on his appointment and wish him success. We believe his experience will contribute meaningfully to the work of the committee.”
The organisation urged members of the committee to maintain unity, professionalism and respect for democratic principles throughout the assignment.
