The Youth Bureau has welcomed the appointment of former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to the campaign committee, describing his inclusion as an opportunity to draw from the experience of a public servant whose career has spanned state and federal governance.
The organisation said Fashola’s journey from public administration in Lagos to federal service provides important lessons for young Nigerians interested in leadership and nation-building.
According to the Youth Bureau, young people need examples of leaders who have demonstrated that public service requires preparation, competence, discipline and a willingness to accept responsibility.
“Whatever one’s political perspective may be, the importance of experience in public administration cannot be ignored. Fashola’s career provides young Nigerians with an opportunity to study leadership, policy implementation and public service,” the organisation stated.
The group said his appointment should also encourage greater intergenerational engagement within political structures.
The Youth Bureau stressed that Nigeria’s political future will be stronger when experienced leaders and young Nigerians are able to exchange ideas and perspectives.
The organisation therefore encouraged the committee to create opportunities for younger Nigerians to participate meaningfully in the political process.
It congratulated Fashola on the appointment and wished him success in the assignment.
The Youth Bureau concluded by urging young people to view political participation as a responsibility rather than merely a pathway to seeking office.
