The Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG) has commended the appointment of former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to the campaign committee, describing his inclusion as a valuable addition to a team requiring experience, discipline and strategic leadership.
The organisation said Fashola’s extensive record in public service makes him particularly suited to an assignment requiring organisational capacity and a deep understanding of Nigeria’s political and governance landscape.
In a statement signed by Convener Razaq Olokoba, CDG noted that Fashola’s tenure as Governor of Lagos and subsequent service at the federal level provided him with experience across both subnational and national governance.
“Fashola brings to the committee a wealth of administrative experience and a strong understanding of public institutions. His years of service demonstrate the value of continuity, professionalism and institutional knowledge in governance,” Olokoba stated.
The group noted that Fashola’s background as a lawyer and administrator further strengthens the value of his contribution to the committee.
CDG said experienced statesmen such as Fashola remain important to political processes because they understand the complexities of policy, administration, stakeholder engagement and public communication.
The organisation therefore described his appointment as a decision that brings institutional memory and tested leadership experience to the committee.
CDG congratulated Fashola and expressed confidence that he would contribute constructively to the assignment.
The organisation also urged all members of the committee to work with unity and professionalism while placing national interest above individual considerations.
