The Youth Bureau has applauded the appointment of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to the campaign committee, describing the decision as an opportunity to bring experienced leadership and a strong understanding of governance into the political process.
The organisation said Governor Sanwo-Olu’s appointment is significant because young Nigerians need to see experienced public officials contributing actively to political processes while creating room for the next generation of leaders to participate.
In a statement, the Youth Bureau said Sanwo-Olu’s record in Lagos provides him with valuable experience in managing public institutions and developing policies that affect millions of residents.
The organisation highlighted his administration’s focus on transportation, education, technology, entrepreneurship, healthcare and infrastructure, noting that these areas have a direct impact on the future of young people.
“We see this appointment as more than a political responsibility. It is also an opportunity for experienced leaders to help shape a political environment where young Nigerians can participate, contribute ideas and prepare for leadership,” the Youth Bureau stated.
The group said young people require political structures that value competence, fresh ideas and responsible participation.
It therefore welcomed the inclusion of Governor Sanwo-Olu and expressed confidence that his experience would contribute positively to the committee’s work.
The Youth Bureau also encouraged young Nigerians to become more interested in governance and public policy, stressing that political participation should not be limited to election periods.
“Young Nigerians must understand that leadership begins with participation. We encourage our generation to learn, engage and contribute constructively to the political process.”
The organisation congratulated Governor Sanwo-Olu and wished him success in the assignment.
It expressed hope that the committee would provide opportunities for meaningful engagement with young people and ensure that their aspirations remain part of the broader political conversation.
