
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has celebrated renowned scholar, columnist and novelist, Professor Adebayo Williams, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, describing him as a distinguished intellectual whose contributions have positively influenced Nigeria and the African continent.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a congratulatory message issued to mark the academic’s milestone birthday, extended his warm wishes to Prof. Williams on behalf of his wife, his family, the Lagos State Government and the people of the state.
The Governor described the celebrant as a respected scholar and passionate advocate for a better and more progressive society. He noted that Prof. Williams had, over the years, distinguished himself through his intellectual contributions, writings and commitment to issues affecting society.
Sanwo-Olu commended the 75-year-old scholar for his immense contributions to political and social developments in Africa, particularly Nigeria. He acknowledged Prof. Williams’ influence as a columnist and novelist, stressing that his body of work has contributed significantly to public discourse and the understanding of important national and continental issues.
According to the Governor, Prof. Williams deserves widespread recognition and commendation for his decades of service to humanity and his dedication to promoting a good society.
Sanwo-Olu said the scholar’s intellectual contributions and commitment to public affairs had continued to make him an important voice in Nigeria and beyond.
While congratulating Prof. Williams on attaining the landmark age of 75, the Governor prayed for continued good health, strength and fulfilment for the celebrant.
He expressed hope that Prof. Williams would continue to deploy his knowledge, experience and intellectual capacity in the service of humanity, Lagos State, Nigeria and Africa.
The Governor wished the renowned scholar many more years of productive service, noting that his contributions over the years remain valuable to present and future generations.
