Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to leveraging the state’s growing global visibility to attract partnerships, investments and opportunities that will directly benefit residents.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this while participating in discussions with global leaders at the Global Africa Business Initiative in New York, where he shared Lagos State’s vision for building a modern and sustainable city capable of meeting the needs of its rapidly growing population.
The Governor said governing a state with more than 22 million residents requires balancing ambitious development plans with the everyday needs and expectations of citizens.
According to him, the administration is focused on translating Lagos’ increasing international attention into tangible improvements across critical sectors of the economy and public infrastructure.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted key areas including transportation, healthcare and support for young entrepreneurs, stressing that the government’s priority is to create an enabling environment where residents can thrive and participate meaningfully in the state’s economic growth.
He noted that Lagos must continue to strengthen its relationships with international partners and investors while ensuring that such engagements produce measurable benefits for the people.
The Governor said the state was actively developing partnerships that would help expand economic opportunities, improve infrastructure and strengthen Lagos’ position as a major destination for investment and innovation.
“Global attention must translate into real benefits at home,” Sanwo-Olu said, emphasising the need to convert international interest in Lagos into projects and opportunities that improve the lives of residents.
He further reiterated that Lagos remains open to businesses and investors seeking opportunities in Africa’s economic hub.
Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to pursue collaborations capable of creating shared value, expanding opportunities for Lagosians and moving the state’s economy forward.
He added that the ultimate objective was to ensure that Lagos’ growing global connections translated into practical benefits for residents while supporting the state’s long-term development ambitions.
