The Lagos State Government has presented Certificates of Compliance to 63 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that have fully complied with the State’s mandatory Social Health Insurance directive.
The certificates were presented by the Head of Service, Lagos State, Mr Olabode Agoro, during a ceremony held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the event, Agoro commended the recognised MDAs for demonstrating commitment to the Executive Order on mandatory enrolment in the Social Health Insurance Scheme. He noted that their compliance reflects the administration’s determination to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare for public servants and residents across the state.
The Head of Service also announced November 30, 2026, as the deadline for MDAs that are yet to fully comply with the provisions of the Executive Order.
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu signed the Executive Order on July 16, 2026, making enrolment in the Social Health Insurance Scheme mandatory across Lagos State. The directive is aimed at domesticating the provisions of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act and strengthening the implementation of the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).
Agoro urged the remaining MDAs to take the necessary steps to achieve full compliance before the November deadline, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in advancing the state’s healthcare objectives.
The initiative is expected to strengthen health insurance coverage among government employees and contribute to the broader goal of ensuring that residents have improved access to healthcare services without facing financial hardship.
The presentation of the certificates therefore serves as both recognition for compliant MDAs and a reminder to others to meet the requirements within the stipulated timeframe.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to implementing policies that promote universal health coverage and improve the overall wellbeing of residents.
