Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented official vehicles to top-ranking civil servants in Lagos, in a move aimed at enhancing productivity and improving service delivery across the state’s public sector.
The presentation, which took place on Tuesday, saw directors on Grade Level 17 benefit from the initiative. The gesture is part of the state government’s broader efforts to motivate senior officers who play critical roles in policy implementation and administrative coordination. By providing official vehicles, the government seeks to ease transportation challenges and enable the beneficiaries to carry out their duties more efficiently.
Speaking during the event, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of a dedicated and high-performing civil service to the overall development of Lagos. He noted that the state’s progress depends largely on the commitment and effectiveness of its workforce, particularly those in leadership positions within the civil service. According to him, the vehicles are not merely incentives but tools to support better performance and accountability.
The governor also charged the beneficiaries to justify the government’s investment by demonstrating greater professionalism, diligence, and responsiveness in their roles. He urged them to see the gesture as a call to higher responsibility, adding that residents of Lagos expect improved service delivery from public institutions.
Sanwo-Olu further highlighted ongoing reforms and welfare initiatives designed to strengthen the civil service. These include training programmes, improved working conditions, and access to housing and loan schemes for public workers. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment where civil servants can thrive and contribute meaningfully to governance.
In response, some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the state government, describing the initiative as timely and impactful. They pledged to redouble their efforts and uphold the trust placed in them.
The presentation of official vehicles underscores the Lagos State Government’s focus on building a motivated and efficient workforce. It also reflects a strategic approach to governance, where investment in human capital is seen as essential to achieving sustainable development and delivering quality services to the people.
