Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Lagos residents by empowering thousands of entrepreneurs and small business owners through the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative (MESI).
Speaking during the distribution of business equipment, the Governor said the initiative reflects the administration’s determination to ensure governance delivers tangible benefits to ordinary citizens. He noted that over the past seven years, the government has consistently implemented programmes designed to strengthen livelihoods and expand economic opportunities across the state.
The beneficiaries received a wide range of working tools, including sewing machines, catering utensils, deep freezers, photography equipment and agricultural processing machines. According to the Governor, the support is aimed at helping traders, artisans and young entrepreneurs establish sustainable businesses, improve productivity and achieve greater financial independence.
Sanwo-Olu explained that supporting small and medium-sized enterprises remains a key pillar of his administration’s THEMES+ Agenda, stressing that the growth of local businesses directly contributes to the economic development of Lagos State.
He revealed that the Micro Enterprise Support Initiative has so far empowered about 40,000 residents with equipment to expand their businesses and improve their standard of living.
Congratulating the latest beneficiaries, the Governor urged them to maximise the opportunity by using the tools effectively to grow their enterprises, provide for their families and create employment opportunities for others.
He also encouraged Lagosians to remain hardworking and optimistic, noting that with determination and the right support, more residents can achieve economic success while contributing to the continued growth and prosperity of Lagos State.
