Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to promote investment, support businesses and expand economic opportunities across the state.
Hamzat made the call during the Investment Community Parley hosted by Aztran Global Investments Limited, where he engaged members of the investment community on strategies for strengthening Lagos’ economic growth through public-private sector partnerships.
He emphasised that government and private businesses have complementary roles in creating an enabling environment for sustainable economic development. According to him, government must continue to establish policies and provide an environment that encourages investment, while private sector players contribute the capital, innovation and entrepreneurial drive needed to expand economic activities.
The Deputy Governor noted that Lagos must remain an attractive destination for investors by ensuring that businesses receive the necessary support to thrive and create more opportunities for residents.
He further explained that the partnership between government and investors is central to the Lagos PROMISE, which focuses on building a state where economic progress translates into meaningful improvements in people’s lives.
Hamzat stressed that the success of economic development should not be measured solely by infrastructure, investment figures or financial growth, but also by the positive impact such achievements have on residents.
He reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement with the investment community, noting that collaboration between public institutions and private enterprises remains essential to unlocking Lagos State’s economic potential and delivering inclusive development.
The engagement provided an opportunity for discussions on investment, business growth and the role of strategic partnerships in shaping the state’s economic future.
