The The Youth Bureau has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for leading Lagos State to surpass the ₦1.7 trillion revenue mark, describing the development as a major economic breakthrough with far-reaching implications for youth empowerment and inclusive growth.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Adekunle Adeosun, the group noted that strong revenue performance creates the foundation for investments in education, job creation, innovation, and skills development.
According to the Youth Bureau, young people stand to benefit significantly from a financially strong state, as increased revenue enables government to expand programmes that support entrepreneurship, digital skills, and employment opportunities.
“This milestone is not just about government finances; it is about the future of young people. When a state generates this level of revenue, it has the capacity to invest in the next generation and create pathways for economic participation,” the statement read.
The group emphasised that Lagos continues to lead as a hub of innovation and enterprise, attracting young talents and businesses from across the country.
It noted that improved revenue capacity will allow the government to scale initiatives in technology, creative industries, and vocational training, thereby empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to the economy.
The Youth Bureau also commended the administration’s efforts in improving revenue systems through technology and transparency, noting that digitalisation has played a key role in enhancing efficiency and reducing leakages.
According to the group, the achievement reflects a forward-thinking approach to governance that prioritises sustainability and long-term impact.
“This is leadership that understands the connection between economic strength and social development. It is a model that ensures that growth is not only achieved but also shared,” Adeosun stated.
The group concluded by urging continued investment in youth-focused programmes, noting that the true measure of economic success lies in how it improves lives and creates opportunities for future generations.
