The Epe Youth Forum has commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his call for national unity and collective action in addressing security challenges confronting the country.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Adewale Adeosun, the group stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s message reflects the type of leadership required during difficult periods in the nation’s history.
According to the Forum, insecurity should not be viewed through political, ethnic, or religious lenses but as a common challenge requiring a united national response.
The organization expressed concern over recent incidents of violence and abductions reported in parts of the country but maintained that Nigerians should not lose faith in the country’s institutions and leadership.
“We share Governor Sanwo-Olu’s optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current security challenges. Our nation has survived difficult periods in the past because of the resilience and determination of its people,” the statement read.
The Forum also reaffirmed its confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and ongoing efforts to strengthen national security.
According to the group, the President has demonstrated commitment to addressing security concerns through strategic reforms, enhanced support for security agencies, and continuous engagement with relevant stakeholders.
The Epe Youth Forum further praised members of the military, police, intelligence services, and other security agencies for their dedication and sacrifices.
The organization urged community leaders, youth groups, religious organizations, and traditional institutions to work closely with security agencies by providing useful information that can assist in preventing criminal activities.
“Security is everybody’s responsibility. Communities must remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement agencies in the interest of peace and stability,” the statement added.
The Forum concluded by encouraging Nigerians to remain hopeful and united while continuing to support efforts aimed at building a safer and stronger nation.
