
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the judiciary as part of efforts to ensure efficient justice delivery and strengthen public confidence in the legal system.
The governor made this known after receiving the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, at Lagos House, Marina.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the critical role of the judiciary in promoting good governance, protecting citizens’ rights, and fostering economic development. He noted that a functional and effective justice system is essential for maintaining law and order, attracting investment, and ensuring social stability.
According to the governor, the Lagos State Government recognizes the importance of creating an environment where citizens have confidence in the judicial process and can access justice without unnecessary delays.
“For us in Lagos, supporting the judiciary is about ensuring that everyday citizens can trust that justice is swift and accessible,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that the state’s commitment to judicial reforms and institutional support is driven by the belief that a strong legal framework is fundamental to economic growth and sustainable development. He stressed that businesses and investors are more likely to thrive in an environment where the rule of law is upheld and disputes can be resolved fairly and efficiently.
Sanwo-Olu further stated that Lagos will continue to collaborate with judicial institutions and provide the necessary support to strengthen the administration of justice across the state.
The governor described the judiciary as a vital pillar of democracy and expressed confidence that continued cooperation between the executive and judicial arms of government would enhance the delivery of justice and improve public trust in the legal system.
