LAGOS — Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, have called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain committed to democratic values, unity, and service to the people.
The trio made the call while addressing party leaders and stakeholders, emphasizing the need for political office holders and party executives to place national and public interest above personal ambitions. They stressed that effective leadership must be guided by integrity, patriotism, and a commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that political leaders play a critical role in sustaining peace and stability within the party and the broader society. He urged newly elected and serving APC chairmen to foster inclusiveness, encourage constructive engagement, and ensure that the interests of the people remain at the center of governance and party activities.
The governor further stated that unity within the party is essential for delivering good governance and maintaining public confidence in democratic processes. According to him, leaders must continue to build bridges across different groups and promote harmony among members.
Deputy Governor Hamzat echoed the governor’s position, stressing the importance of selfless service and responsible leadership. He encouraged party officials to see their positions as opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
Also speaking, Oba Gbolahan Lawal urged political leaders to uphold the principles of fairness, accountability, and respect for democratic norms. He emphasized that patriotism and dedication to the common good are vital for national progress.
The leaders collectively charged APC chairmen to lead with wisdom, strengthen party cohesion, and work toward the advancement of democracy and sustainable development in Lagos State and across Nigeria.
