Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has joined the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, at a stakeholders’ engagement and the flag-off of repair works on the Eko Bridge and Marine Bridge, as well as activities connected to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
The Governor described the Eko and Marine Bridges as critical infrastructure that plays a major role in the daily movement of residents, businesses and goods across Lagos. He noted that the bridges are important links within the State’s transportation network and their rehabilitation will contribute significantly to improving mobility and easing traffic pressure on alternative routes.
Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Works for prioritising the rehabilitation of the bridges and other major road infrastructure in Lagos. He said the interventions demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges and improving connectivity across the country.
According to the Governor, the repair works will not only improve the condition and safety of the bridges but also support economic activities by ensuring more efficient movement of people and goods across key parts of Lagos.
He also emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government in delivering major infrastructure projects that have a direct impact on the lives of residents.
Sanwo-Olu assured Lagosians that the State Government would continue to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Works and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the projects are effectively implemented and completed to the required standards.
He noted that the ongoing interventions, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, will strengthen connectivity, support economic growth and contribute to the long-term development of Lagos.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting infrastructure projects that will deliver lasting value, improve the quality of life of residents and position Lagos for sustained economic growth.
