Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has celebrated the graduation of the 2025/2026 cohort of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA), while welcoming the newly admitted 2026/2027 cohort into the leadership development programme.
The Governor joined stakeholders, academy officials, graduates and the new fellows at a ceremony held to mark the completion of another cycle of the academy’s leadership programme.
Sanwo-Olu commended the graduating fellows for their dedication, discipline and commitment throughout their journey, noting that their experience had equipped them with valuable knowledge and leadership skills that could contribute to the development of Lagos and Nigeria.
He urged the graduates to translate the lessons learned during their time at the academy into meaningful action, encouraging them to lead with integrity, responsibility and a strong sense of service.
According to the Governor, leadership should not be measured only by positions held but by the positive impact individuals make in the lives of others and within their communities.
Sanwo-Olu also charged the new 2026/2027 cohort to approach their experience with curiosity, determination and a willingness to contribute. He encouraged the new fellows to embrace opportunities to learn, develop their leadership capacity and actively participate in initiatives that can create positive change.
He stressed that Lagos State would continue to create platforms and opportunities for young people to develop their potential and take on leadership responsibilities.
The Governor said the future of Lagos depends on individuals who are prepared to show up, take responsibility and contribute to building a better society.
He expressed confidence that both the graduating fellows and the new cohort would continue to uphold the values of leadership, integrity and service promoted by the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy.
The ceremony marked another milestone in the State Government’s efforts to develop a new generation of capable and responsible leaders.
