Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the opening of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Nigerian Exchange as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s capital market and economy.
Sanwo-Olu joined Alhaji Aliko Dangote at the Nigerian Exchange Group in Lagos to mark the commencement of the refinery’s IPO, an event he said further demonstrated Lagos’ growing importance as a destination for major investments and business opportunities.
The Governor said the development reflected the kind of economic environment his administration was working to build in Lagos, where businesses could grow, investors could find opportunities and major investments could take root.
According to him, the state government remains committed to improving the ease of doing business and strengthening Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s leading investment destination.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the listing of the Dangote Refinery represents a major development for the Nigerian capital market, describing it as the first refinery to be offered on the Nigerian Exchange in its 66-year history.
He said the development would further deepen the capital market while creating opportunities for investors and contributing to the growth and development of the wider Nigerian economy.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and initiatives that encourage private-sector investment, business expansion and job creation across Lagos.
He stressed that a thriving business environment is essential to attracting both local and international investors, noting that the state would continue to support initiatives capable of strengthening economic activity and creating opportunities for residents.
Sanwo-Olu assured investors and business owners that Lagos would continue to provide an enabling environment for enterprises to succeed.
He said the state’s commitment remains focused on attracting more investments, supporting more businesses and creating more opportunities for economic growth, as Lagos continues to consolidate its position as Nigeria’s premier investment and commercial hub.
