Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has met with the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, to explore potential areas of partnership between Lagos and the United States city, particularly in technology, innovation and sustainable development.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed the meeting in a statement, noting that the engagement was focused on identifying opportunities for collaboration that could strengthen economic ties and promote growth in both cities.
According to the Governor, Lagos and San Francisco share similarities as major urban centres with strong technology ecosystems, diverse populations and growing investment opportunities. He said discussions with Mayor Lurie centred on how both cities could exchange ideas, expertise and experiences in areas capable of supporting long-term development.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted technology as a key area of potential partnership, stressing the importance of innovation in improving public services, supporting businesses and creating opportunities for young people.
The Governor also pointed to sustainable growth as another area where Lagos could benefit from collaboration and knowledge-sharing with San Francisco. He said partnerships with global cities would help Lagos strengthen its development strategies while positioning the state to attract more international investment.
The meeting formed part of Sanwo-Olu’s engagements in San Francisco, where he has been promoting Lagos as a major destination for investment, innovation and business opportunities.
Sanwo-Olu said he looked forward to building on the discussions with the San Francisco administration and exploring practical areas of cooperation that could deliver mutual benefits.
