President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the World Bank Group’s efforts to mobilise up to $5.79 billion in private financing for Nigeria, describing the initiative as a boost to the Federal Government’s economic reform agenda and efforts to attract investment.
Tinubu said the administration introduced economic reforms to establish a stronger foundation for investment, support business expansion and create more opportunities for Nigerians to earn better livelihoods.
In a statement highlighting the development, the President noted that the partnership with the World Bank Group would support investments in critical sectors, particularly agriculture and digital infrastructure, while strengthening private sector participation in the economy.
He disclosed that Nigeria had also developed a pipeline of 65 bankable projects seeking a combined investment of $78.5 billion.
According to him, the projects offer significant opportunities for local and international investors interested in contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
The investment opportunities were presented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, at the Nigeria Investors Forum.
The forum was held on the sidelines of the 2026 International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tinubu called on Nigerian and international investors to explore the identified projects and engage directly with their sponsors through the Projects Nigeria platform.
He assured prospective investors that his administration would work to address challenges that could hinder investment and ensure viable projects progress from planning to implementation.
The President emphasised that attracting private capital remains important to expanding businesses, generating employment and improving economic opportunities for citizens.
He added that successful implementation of the projects could help strengthen key sectors, encourage enterprise and support long-term economic development.
Interested investors can access details of the proposed investment opportunities through the Projects Nigeria portal at finance.gov.ng/projectsnigeria.
The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to attract private investment, improve the business environment and position Nigeria for sustainable economic growth.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with investors and development partners to unlock opportunities and translate investment proposals into tangible benefits for Nigerians.
