Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recently welcomed Bodex Whenume Hungbo, the visionary behind the Bodex Social Media Hangout (BSMH), along with other key stakeholders in Nigeria’s digital media ecosystem. The courtesy visit was in anticipation of the 6th edition of BSMH — an influential platform designed to foster dialogue around the role and impact of social media in shaping society.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the organizers for their continued commitment to using digital platforms to drive meaningful conversations and social change. He noted that initiatives like the Bodex Social Media Hangout serve as a powerful reminder of how digital media can be harnessed positively — to inform, engage, and empower communities.
“Lagos has always been the heartbeat of creativity and innovation, and it’s truly inspiring to see our homegrown talents making waves not just locally, but internationally,” the Governor said. “As a government, we remain committed to supporting platforms that amplify responsible storytelling, promote digital literacy, and give our people a voice.”
The Bodex Social Media Hangout has grown over the years to become a significant event on Nigeria’s digital calendar, attracting thought leaders, influencers, policymakers, and media professionals. The 6th edition promises to build on the momentum of previous years, spotlighting important themes such as digital responsibility, youth empowerment, and the evolving role of social media in governance and civic participation.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for collective efforts in ensuring that the digital space remains a tool for good. He praised the event’s alignment with Lagos State’s vision for a digitally inclusive future where innovation thrives and technology is used to solve real problems.
“I’m proud to celebrate initiatives like BSMH that not only project the creative spirit of Lagos but also champion a future where digital platforms are used ethically and impactfully,” he added.
With Lagos at the forefront of digital transformation in Nigeria, the government continues to support programs and partnerships that leverage technology for development. The Governor’s meeting with the BSMH team reinforces the administration’s belief in the power of collaboration to shape narratives and drive progress.
