Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, today commissioned the newly completed Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Library Complex at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo campus. The project marks a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing investment in educational infrastructure and youth empowerment.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the library as a hub for “discovery, innovation, and inspiration,” and emphasized the administration’s commitment to providing future-focused learning environments across the state. He noted that the modern facility reflects Lagos State’s broader vision of creating opportunities where young people can access knowledge, harness their potential, and develop solutions to the challenges of tomorrow.
“This moment is deeply personal to me,” the Governor said. “It represents the ideals that have guided my own journey — the firm belief that education is the bridge between potential and purpose. Knowledge remains the most powerful and lasting legacy one generation can pass to the next.”
The library complex is equipped with cutting-edge resources, digital access points, quiet study areas, and collaborative learning spaces, all designed to enhance academic excellence and research capacity within the university community.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the LASU community for its steadfast commitment to learning and academic excellence, noting that the institution continues to produce graduates who are not only intellectually sound but also socially responsible.
“With this new facility, we are reinforcing our promise to create an environment where every mind can thrive,” he added. “This library is more than just a building — it is a symbol of our belief in the transformative power of education.”
The event was attended by top government officials, university stakeholders, students, and members of the academic community, all of whom celebrated the Governor’s contributions to educational advancement in Lagos.
The new library is expected to serve thousands of students annually and will play a critical role in enhancing academic outcomes at LASU.
