Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) for 25 years of visionary leadership, compassion, and transformative impact on women and families across Lagos State and Nigeria.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 25th Annual National Women’s Conference organized by COWLSO, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the milestone as a testament to the power of collective vision and the enduring legacy of women’s leadership in shaping society.
He noted that what began as a modest initiative has evolved into a strong movement that continues to inspire progress and empowerment across generations. “What started as a simple idea has grown into a powerful platform for women to lead, serve, and impact lives. Today, COWLSO stands as a beacon of hope and service, touching lives across Lagos and beyond,” he said.
The Governor paid glowing tribute to Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, whose foresight and commitment revived COWLSO and transformed it into a platform of influence and inspiration. He also expressed immense pride in his wife and current Chairperson of COWLSO, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as well as the co-convener, Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Hamzat, for their dedication in sustaining the organization’s legacy.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the theme of this year’s conference, “Inspiring the Next Generation,” serves as a rallying call to action for women leaders to continue nurturing the values of integrity, compassion, and courage among the younger generation. He urged participants to remain role models and catalysts for positive change in their families, workplaces, and communities.
He further highlighted the importance of mentorship and collective responsibility in building a more inclusive and equitable future for women and girls. “We must continue to lead by example, showing the next generation that leadership is about service, resilience, and empathy. By doing so, we secure the future of Lagos and Nigeria,” he added.
Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated COWLSO for its remarkable achievements over the past 25 years and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women, strengthen families, and advance social development.
“Congratulations to COWLSO at 25, and to every woman who has made this journey truly extraordinary,” he concluded.
