
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of a new 11-member Governing Council for Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, as part of his administration’s continued efforts to strengthen leadership and ensure excellence in the state-owned institution.
In the new composition, Mr. Babatunde Ogala (SAN) has been named Chairman of the Council, while Caverton Offshore Support Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bode Makanjuola, is among the ten other distinguished members appointed to serve.
Other members of the council include Mrs. Oluseyi Badmus, Mrs. Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo, Prof. Shaffudeen Amuwo, Mr. Rafiu Adisa Ebiti (FCA), Mrs. Kofo Durosimi-Etti, Dr. Farouk Gumel, Mrs. Adenike Akanbi (FCA), Mr. Biodun Hundeyin, and Dr. Remi Desalu.
The statement announcing the appointments emphasized that the decision reflects the state government’s commitment to repositioning LASU for greater academic performance, improved research capacity, and sustainable institutional governance. Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the new council brings together seasoned professionals, academics, and administrators whose collective expertise will help guide LASU toward achieving its vision of becoming a world-class university.
The newly constituted council will be responsible for providing strategic direction, policy oversight, and support for the university’s management in line with global best practices. Their appointment takes immediate effect.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their contributions and service to the institution. He urged the new council to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability while fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and innovation.
