Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government, following his period as acting chairman. Obasa assumed the acting position after the former chairman, Hon. Tunde Azeez, stepped down due to health challenges.
The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant moment for governance in Agege, as Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of continuity, stability, and people-focused leadership at the grassroots level. He expressed confidence in Obasa’s ability to deliver quality governance and meet the expectations of residents.
In the same ceremony, the governor also swore in Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa as the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation. Her appointment, according to the governor, reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its civil service with capable and forward-thinking professionals.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed that public office in Lagos State is fundamentally about service. He noted that those entrusted with leadership positions must be dependable, competent, and deeply committed to prioritizing the needs of the people. According to him, leadership—whether political or administrative—must reflect the will of Lagosians and translate into measurable results.
Addressing the newly sworn-in officials, the governor reminded them that their offices come with serious responsibilities. He emphasized that residents expect hard work, integrity, and visible impact, warning that anything short of excellence would not be acceptable.
The governor further reiterated that dedication, merit, and excellence remain core values in Lagos State’s governance system. He assured public servants and political leaders that outstanding performance will always be recognized and encouraged, as the state continues to set high standards in public administration and service delivery.
