The Lagos State Government has commenced a specialised training programme for Engineers and Human Resource Officers in the State Civil Service as part of efforts to strengthen workforce capacity and improve productivity across the public sector.
The programme, organised through the Ministry of Establishments and Training, is designed to provide participants with relevant professional knowledge, practical skills and innovative approaches needed to effectively respond to emerging workplace challenges.
More than 200 officers are participating in the dual training programme, which is being held concurrently at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The initiative forms part of the State Government’s commitment to continuous learning and professional development among its workforce, recognising the importance of equipping public servants with the skills required to meet the changing demands of modern governance.
The Engineering training is focused on the theme, “Effective Engineering Solutions for Public Sector Challenges.” The programme is aimed at enhancing the ability of engineers within the civil service to develop practical and sustainable solutions to technical challenges confronting government operations and infrastructure delivery.
Similarly, the Human Resource Officers’ training is centred on “Human Resource and Organisational Management.” The programme seeks to strengthen participants’ understanding of effective workforce management, organisational development and strategies for improving employee performance.
The Lagos State Government noted that investing in the capacity development of public servants remains critical to building a skilled, adaptable and productive workforce capable of delivering quality services to residents.
Through the training, participants are expected to acquire new perspectives and practical tools that can be applied within their respective ministries, departments and agencies.
The initiative further demonstrates the administration’s emphasis on professional development, efficiency and innovation in the Lagos State Public Service, with the ultimate objective of improving service delivery and supporting the State’s development agenda.
