The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector and improving the welfare of nurses across the state following his recognition by the Commonwealth Nurses Conference Team.
Sanwo-Olu made this known while receiving members of the conference team at Lagos House, Ikeja, where he was presented with the Nurse Friendly Governor Award in recognition of his support for nurses and contributions to healthcare development in Lagos State.
The governor described the award as a significant honour and dedicated it to healthcare professionals who continue to work tirelessly in ensuring quality medical services for residents. He commended nurses for their dedication, sacrifice, and critical role in the healthcare system, noting that they remain at the forefront of patient care and public health delivery.
According to him, the Lagos State Government will continue to invest in healthcare infrastructure, improve working conditions for medical personnel, and implement policies that enhance service delivery across public health institutions. He added that supporting healthcare workers remains a major priority of his administration because of the important role they play in safeguarding lives and promoting community wellbeing.
Sanwo-Olu also stressed the importance of collaboration between government and healthcare stakeholders in addressing challenges within the sector. He noted that Lagos, as one of Africa’s fastest-growing cities, requires a resilient and efficient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of its growing population.
Members of the Commonwealth Nurses Conference Team praised the governor for his efforts in advancing healthcare delivery and promoting policies that support nursing professionals in the state. They stated that the award reflects the appreciation of nurses for the administration’s commitment to the sector.
