
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Lagos State to embrace entrepreneurship, civic responsibility, and national service as vital tools for personal development and nation-building.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the governor made the call during the closing ceremony of the NYSC orientation course for the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members at the orientation camp in Iyana Ipaja.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available in Lagos, describing the state as a hub of innovation, enterprise, and economic growth. He urged them to develop entrepreneurial skills that would enhance their self-reliance and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economy.
The governor stressed the importance of civic responsibility, urging the corps members to uphold values such as integrity, discipline, patriotism, and respect for the rule of law throughout their service year. According to him, these virtues are essential for building a stronger and more prosperous society.
He also reminded the corps members of the significance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity, cultural integration, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians from different backgrounds. He encouraged them to use the service year as an opportunity to learn, build lasting relationships, and contribute positively to their host communities.
Sanwo-Olu assured the corps members of the Lagos State Government’s continued support and commitment to ensuring their welfare and security during their stay in the state.
The governor further urged them to be worthy ambassadors of their families, institutions, and the NYSC scheme by demonstrating excellence, dedication, and a strong commitment to community development.
The corps members were advised to remain focused, innovative, and determined to make meaningful contributions to society while preparing themselves for future leadership roles.
