
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded two outstanding graduating students of Lagos State University (LASU) with a cash gift of N20 million each in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements.
The Governor made the presentation during the 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies of LASU, where students from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions were celebrated for their hard work and accomplishments.
The beneficiaries are Ayilara Lawal Olawale, a graduate of Project Management, who emerged as the overall best graduating student for the 2024/2025 academic session with an impressive 4.96 CGPA, and Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, a graduate of Aerospace Engineering, who recorded a 4.97 CGPA to emerge as the overall best graduating student for the 2025/2026 session.
Sanwo-Olu described their achievements as a demonstration of discipline, dedication and relentless focus, noting that their academic excellence reflects what young people can accomplish when they remain committed to their goals.
The Governor said the convocation marked his final visit to LASU in his capacity as Governor of Lagos State, making the recognition particularly significant.
He congratulated the two outstanding graduates and expressed pride in their accomplishments, stressing that his administration’s commitment to investing in the development and future of young people remains firm.
“Lagos is deeply proud of you, I am proud of you,” the Governor said, while encouraging the awardees to continue serving as role models to other students.
Sanwo-Olu also congratulated all graduates of the two academic sessions, acknowledging their perseverance and hard work throughout their academic journey.
He urged them to carry the values of discipline, excellence and dedication into their future endeavours as they begin the next phase of their lives.
The recognition further underscores the Lagos State Government’s emphasis on education, youth development and rewarding academic excellence.
