CAMPAIGN FOR DIGNITY GOVERNANCE DECLARES SANWO-OLU HAS PASSED THE INTEGRITY TEST
The Campaign for Dignity Governance has declared that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has clearly passed what it described as the integrity test of leadership, noting that his years in office have demonstrated discipline, transparency, accountability, and unwavering commitment to public service.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the Convener of the group, Razaq Olokoba, stated that integrity remains one of the most important qualities of leadership, especially in a society where citizens expect public officials to act with honour, responsibility, and sincerity.
According to Olokoba, integrity in governance is not measured by speeches or slogans, but by conduct, consistency, respect for institutions, prudent management of public resources, and the ability to place public interest above personal gain.
He noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has, through his style of administration and public conduct, shown that leadership can still be anchored on decency, order, humility, and responsibility.
“After careful observation of his stewardship, public behaviour, and governance record, we can confidently say that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has passed the integrity test. He has shown that power can be exercised with humility, responsibility, and respect for the people,” Olokoba stated.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance emphasised that the Governor has consistently projected calmness, maturity, and institutional discipline in the discharge of his duties, even during difficult moments that required strong leadership and emotional balance.
The group noted that in public office, pressure is inevitable, criticism is constant, and political distractions are many. However, it said the ability of a leader to remain focused on governance while maintaining dignity and composure is a strong indicator of character.
According to the group, Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated this quality repeatedly through his measured approach to leadership and commitment to service delivery.
The group also pointed to recent events where misleading political narratives and sensational reports attempted to create false impressions around party logistics and governance structures. It noted that despite distractions and deliberate misinformation in some quarters, the Governor has remained focused on administration, refusing to be drawn into unnecessary controversy.
According to the Campaign for Dignity Governance, one mark of integrity is the ability of a leader to remain committed to duty even when confronted with falsehoods, propaganda, or politically motivated attacks.
“Integrity is not only about finances. It is also about temperament, fairness, emotional discipline, and respect for the office one occupies. Governor Sanwo-Olu has displayed these qualities in a commendable manner,” the statement added.
The group further highlighted the administration’s achievements in transportation, housing, healthcare, education, urban renewal, and technology, noting that performance backed by responsible leadership is what strengthens public trust.
It stated that a government can only deliver meaningful development when citizens believe that those in authority are acting in good faith and managing public resources responsibly.
According to Olokoba, Lagos has continued to witness strategic investments in rail transportation, road infrastructure, health facilities, schools, youth programmes, and environmental reforms because the administration has maintained focus and discipline in governance.
“Where there is integrity, there is direction. Where there is direction, there is progress. Lagos has continued to move forward because the leadership understands responsibility and the value of public trust,” he said.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance also commended the Governor for sustaining continuity in governance while introducing his own reforms and priorities. It noted that responsible leadership is not about unnecessary disruption, but about preserving what works and improving what needs change.
The group stated that Sanwo-Olu has shown maturity in building on existing foundations while creating new pathways for growth and innovation across the state.
It further praised the Governor’s relationship with civil servants, stakeholders, investors, and residents, describing it as evidence of inclusive governance and institutional respect.
“Integrity creates confidence. Investors trust stable systems, citizens trust responsive governments, and institutions thrive under leaders who respect due process. These are qualities that Governor Sanwo-Olu has steadily projected,” Olokoba added.
The group also noted that in a time where many citizens are demanding higher ethical standards from leaders, it is important to acknowledge public officials who demonstrate responsible conduct and commitment to service.
It stressed that recognising good examples in governance encourages a culture of accountability and inspires future leaders to embrace honourable public service.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance urged the Governor to remain steadfast, continue prioritising the welfare of Lagosians, and sustain reforms that improve the quality of life across the state.
It also encouraged public office holders at all levels to learn from the importance of character, discipline, and consistency in leadership. sa“Leadership is tested every day. It is tested in decisions, in conduct, in priorities, and in how leaders respond under pressure. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has faced these tests and has emerged with dignity,” the statement said.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance concluded by reaffirming its support for leadership rooted in integrity, competence, and service, expressing confidence that Lagos will continue to grow under responsible stewardship.
“This is why we say clearly and without hesitation: Governor Sanwo-Olu has passed the integrity test. His record reflects discipline, accountability, and commitment to the greater good,” the statement concluded.
