The Campaign for Dignity Governance has commended the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for what it described as his recent demonstration of purposeful leadership, political maturity, and unwavering commitment to the continued progress of Lagos State.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the Convener of the group, Razaq Olokoba, praised Hamzat for his recent statewide consultations, developmental engagements, and continued role in supporting governance initiatives aimed at sustaining Lagos’ growth and stability.
According to the group, Hamzat’s recent interactions with political leaders, governance stakeholders, youth groups, and grassroots communities in April and May 2026 have further strengthened public confidence in his capacity to lead and build on the developmental foundation already established in Lagos State.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance noted that leadership is not only about occupying office but about demonstrating preparedness, competence, emotional intelligence, and consistency over time.
“Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has consistently shown that he understands governance beyond politics. He understands systems, institutions, infrastructure, innovation, and the human side of leadership. That is why many Lagosians continue to see him as a dependable and capable leader,” Olokoba stated.
The group highlighted Hamzat’s long-standing contributions to the development of Lagos, particularly in technology, infrastructure, public administration, and policy coordination, noting that his role in modernising governance systems in Lagos has had lasting impact over the years.
According to the statement, one of Hamzat’s strongest qualities is his ability to combine intellectual depth with practical governance experience.
It noted that his background in science, technology, and public administration has enabled him to contribute meaningfully to strategic planning and implementation across several administrations in Lagos State.
“Lagos is a highly sophisticated and complex state that requires leadership with both vision and technical understanding. Hamzat has repeatedly demonstrated that he possesses both,” the statement added.
The group also praised his recent emphasis on continuity, inclusive governance, and stakeholder engagement, describing it as evidence of a leader who values unity, consultation, and institutional stability.
According to Olokoba, Lagos has made significant progress over the years because successive administrations have maintained continuity in governance while introducing reforms and innovations where necessary.
“Hamzat understands the Lagos development model. He has been part of the process of building and sustaining many of the systems that keep the state moving forward today,” he said.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance further noted that Hamzat’s calm disposition, administrative discipline, and consistent loyalty to governance have distinguished him as one of the most experienced public officials in the state.
It added that his ability to work effectively across different administrations and sectors demonstrates adaptability, competence, and a deep understanding of governance.
The group particularly commended his contributions to technological advancement and public sector reforms in Lagos, noting that many of the state’s digital transformation initiatives were driven by systems and policies introduced during his years in public service.
According to the group, Lagos requires leadership that can sustain progress in transportation, education, healthcare, innovation, housing, and infrastructure while also responding to the evolving needs of a rapidly growing population.
“Experience matters. Capacity matters. Vision matters. Lagos cannot afford leadership built on experimentation. It requires someone who understands the structure, the challenges, and the direction of the state,” Olokoba added.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance also commended the growing support and confidence being expressed by stakeholders, community leaders, and professional groups regarding Hamzat’s leadership qualities and governance record.
The group stressed that public confidence is often earned through years of visible service, discipline, and consistent performance.
According to the statement, Hamzat’s record reflects a leader who is prepared, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to the development of Lagos State.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance concluded by strongly recommending Hamzat as a leader capable of protecting the legacies of progress already achieved in Lagos while also expanding opportunities for future growth and innovation.
“We believe Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat represents continuity, competence, stability, and progress. He has the experience, the intellectual capacity, the administrative understanding, and the leadership temperament required to guide Lagos into a greater future,” the statement concluded.
