CAMPAIGN FOR DIGNITY GOVERNANCE COMMENDS SANWO-OLU ON CONTINUED INFRASTRUCTURE DRIVE IN MAY 2026, DESCRIBES LAGOS AS A CITY UNDER STEADY AND PURPOSEFUL TRANSFORMATION
The Campaign for Dignity Governance has commended the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining what it described as a deliberate and impactful infrastructure development agenda across Lagos State in May 2026, noting that the administration continues to demonstrate commitment to practical governance and long-term urban transformation.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the Convener of the group, Razaq Olokoba, praised the Governor for maintaining focus on transportation, road rehabilitation, housing expansion, and urban renewal projects despite the economic pressures currently facing the country.
According to Olokoba, the consistency of ongoing development projects across the state reflects leadership that is focused on solutions, continuity, and sustainable growth rather than temporary political optics.
“What Lagos is witnessing today is not accidental progress. It is the result of planning, continuity, and leadership that understands the demands of a modern megacity. Governor Sanwo-Olu has remained focused on building systems and infrastructure that will benefit millions of people,” he stated.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance highlighted recent progress in road expansion and rehabilitation projects across several parts of Lagos, noting that improved road infrastructure remains essential for mobility, economic productivity, and quality of life.
The group stated that traffic congestion, transportation delays, and poor connectivity affect both businesses and residents, making investment in road infrastructure a critical component of economic development.
According to the group, the administration’s commitment to upgrading roads, improving drainage systems, and expanding transport infrastructure demonstrates a practical understanding of the needs of a growing population.
“Development is not just about building new projects; it is about improving how people live every day. Better roads, improved transport systems, and safer environments directly impact productivity and daily life,” the statement added.
The group also praised the continued attention being given to housing and urban renewal initiatives aimed at creating safer, more organised, and more liveable communities across Lagos.
It noted that rapid urban growth requires proactive planning and infrastructure expansion to prevent overcrowding, environmental degradation, and pressure on public facilities.
According to the Campaign for Dignity Governance, Lagos has continued to show leadership in addressing these urban challenges through structured development initiatives and long-term planning.
The group further highlighted the administration’s focus on economic development through infrastructure, noting that modern infrastructure attracts investment, supports businesses, and creates opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
“Investors are attracted to environments where infrastructure works. Businesses grow faster in cities where transportation is efficient and public systems are improving. This is why infrastructure development is also economic development,” Olokoba stated.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance also commended the administration for maintaining momentum in governance while ensuring continuity in strategic projects already initiated under previous development plans.
It noted that sustainable development requires discipline, patience, and the ability to execute long-term projects without unnecessary disruption.
According to the group, Lagos continues to distinguish itself because of its commitment to continuity, institutional strength, and strategic planning.
The group further stressed that infrastructure development must remain people-centered, urging the government to continue balancing urban expansion with the welfare and economic realities of residents.
It called for sustained engagement with communities, improved maintenance culture, and stronger monitoring systems to ensure that completed projects continue to deliver value over time.
“Building infrastructure is important, but maintaining it is equally important. Sustainable progress requires continuity in both construction and management,” the statement noted.
The Campaign for Dignity Governance also observed that Lagos remains one of the few states consistently implementing large-scale development initiatives despite national economic challenges.
According to Olokoba, this demonstrates resilience, administrative coordination, and effective governance.
“At a time when many are slowing down, Lagos continues to move forward. That consistency is important because development cannot stop simply because conditions are difficult,” he said.
The group concluded by reaffirming its support for policies and initiatives that promote economic growth, infrastructure development, and improved living conditions for citizens.
It expressed confidence that under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, Lagos will continue evolving into a more modern, connected, and globally competitive city.
“This administration has shown commitment to visible progress, practical governance, and long-term development. Lagos is changing steadily, and the results are becoming increasingly visible across the state,” the statement concluded.
