
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, following his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 elections in Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of years of dedication, service, and commitment to the growth and development of Lagos. In a congratulatory message, the governor referred to Hamzat as a trusted ally and dependable partner with whom he has worked closely over the years in advancing governance and delivering democratic dividends to residents.
According to the governor, Hamzat possesses the experience, intelligence, and leadership qualities needed to continue the developmental strides already being witnessed across the state. He noted that the deputy governor has consistently demonstrated deep passion for the welfare of Lagosians and a clear understanding of the vision required to move the state forward.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that under Hamzat’s leadership, Lagos would witness greater transformation in critical sectors including infrastructure, transportation, technology, education, healthcare, and economic development. He added that the task of governing a rapidly growing megacity such as Lagos requires unity, continuity, and collective commitment from all stakeholders.
The governor also urged members and supporters of the APC to remain united and focused ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of sustaining the progress already achieved in the state.
He reaffirmed his belief that the ruling party remains committed to building a more prosperous, inclusive, and globally competitive Lagos for the benefit of present and future generations.
