
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday received the President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, upon his arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
The visit by the Beninese leader underscores the enduring relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin, two neighbouring countries with deep historical, cultural, and economic connections. It also reflects the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening regional cooperation and advancing common development goals.
Governor Sanwo-Olu welcomed President Wadagni to Lagos, describing the visit as a significant opportunity to reinforce diplomatic and economic ties between the two West African nations. He noted that collaboration among neighbouring countries remains essential for promoting peace, stability, trade, and prosperity across the region.
According to the governor, Nigeria and the Republic of Benin have continued to work together on issues of mutual interest, including regional security, economic integration, infrastructure development, and the free movement of people and goods within the West African sub-region.
