Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed confidence in Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as the most capable person to sustain the state’s developmental strides and progressive vision.
Speaking at a public event, Sanwo-Olu said there would be “no better hands” to hand over the leadership of Lagos State to than Hamzat, praising the deputy governor’s competence, dedication and years of service to the state.
The governor noted that Hamzat has played a critical role in the successes recorded by the administration, contributing significantly to policy formulation, project implementation and governance across various sectors. According to him, the deputy governor’s wealth of experience and deep understanding of the workings of government have made him an invaluable partner in delivering the administration’s agenda.
Sanwo-Olu said their working relationship has been built on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to improving the lives of Lagos residents. He added that Hamzat has consistently demonstrated loyalty, professionalism and the capacity to lead.
The governor stressed that continuity in governance remains essential for sustaining the progress Lagos has achieved over the years. He said the state has benefited from successive administrations that built on the achievements of their predecessors, ensuring stability and consistent development.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the deputy governor possesses the vision and leadership qualities required to consolidate on ongoing infrastructure projects, strengthen public service delivery and drive economic growth if entrusted with greater responsibility.
He also commended Hamzat’s contributions in areas such as education, technology, infrastructure and public sector reforms, describing him as a dependable public servant committed to the advancement of Lagos State.
