Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on public servants to embrace innovation, forward-thinking leadership and excellence in service delivery to ensure the effective implementation of government policies and keep the state globally competitive.
The governor made the call on Monday during the official launch of the second cohort of the Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP), held under the theme, “Embedding Excellence: Leadership for Sustainable Public Service.”
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu said the strength and effectiveness of the Lagos State Civil Service remain critical to achieving his administration’s vision of building a prosperous, inclusive and globally competitive megacity.
He noted that public servants play a strategic role in translating government policies into meaningful programmes and projects that directly improve the lives of residents. According to him, the accelerator programme is designed to equip participants with the leadership skills, innovative mindset and practical knowledge required to meet the evolving demands of governance.
The governor stressed that excellence in the public service must be sustained through continuous learning, capacity building and the adoption of modern approaches to problem-solving. He urged participants in the programme to seize the opportunity to develop themselves and become agents of transformation within their respective ministries, departments and agencies.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the civil service by investing in initiatives that promote professionalism, efficiency and accountability.
He expressed confidence that the second cohort of the Public Service Accelerator Programme would produce visionary leaders capable of driving reforms, improving service delivery and ensuring that Lagos remains at the forefront of public sector innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
The governor added that a resilient and highly motivated public service is indispensable to delivering sustainable development and meeting the aspirations of millions of Lagos residents.
