Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of residents and promoting orderly development across the state with the presentation of land allocation letters to beneficiaries in 98 villages within Ito-Omu and neighbouring communities.
The governor, who announced the development on Thursday, described the exercise as a significant milestone in providing legal recognition and security of tenure for families that have occupied the communities over the years.
According to Sanwo-Olu, land is more than a physical asset, noting that it represents identity, heritage and a foundation upon which families can build their future. He said the allocation letters would provide residents with greater certainty, peace of mind and confidence to invest in their properties and communities.
The governor stated that the initiative reflects his administration’s determination to ensure that residents enjoy secure land ownership while encouraging planned and sustainable growth across Lagos State. He added that the government remains focused on implementing policies that protect the interests of citizens and strengthen community development.
Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the patience and cooperation of the affected communities throughout the process, assuring them that the government would continue to pursue programmes that improve the welfare of residents and enhance land administration across the state.
While describing the handover as a major achievement, the governor stressed that more work remains to be done to address land-related issues in other parts of Lagos. He, however, expressed confidence that the exercise marks the beginning of greater opportunities for the beneficiaries and their communities.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue working with residents and stakeholders to build a more inclusive, organised and prosperous Lagos, where every community enjoys the benefits of good governance and sustainable development.
