The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday officially commissioned the Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC) Integrated Energy Hub in Oshodi, marking a major milestone in the country’s energy sector.
The facility is the first integrated energy hub of its kind in Nigeria and is expected to strengthen energy distribution, improve access to petroleum products and support economic activities across Lagos.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the project as a strategic investment designed to bridge supply gaps while providing practical solutions to the energy needs of residents, businesses and industries. He noted that the energy hub reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that promotes sustainable development and improves the quality of life for Lagosians.
The governor said the project aligns with the THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, economic growth and environmental sustainability. According to him, expanding critical infrastructure remains essential to meeting the demands of a rapidly growing population and maintaining Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s commercial capital.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to investing in initiatives that create value, enhance service delivery and stimulate economic development.
The Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation Integrated Energy Hub is expected to improve the efficiency of fuel distribution, reduce supply challenges and provide reliable energy services to support businesses and households. It also serves as a key component of the state’s broader strategy to modernise its energy infrastructure and encourage investment in the sector.
Stakeholders at the event commended the Lagos State Government for pioneering the project, expressing confidence that the hub will strengthen the state’s energy value chain, create employment opportunities and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic development.
The commissioning of the facility further underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to building resilient infrastructure that supports inclusive growth and positions Lagos as a leader in innovation and sustainable urban development.
