The grand ballroom of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, came alive with culture, history and celebration as Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, officially unveiled Against All Odds, a photographic chronicle documenting the defining moments of his administration.
The event, attended by traditional rulers, government officials, political leaders, captains of industry and other distinguished guests, celebrated the journey of the Sanwo-Olu administration from its early challenges through its achievements during the governor’s first term and into the second.
The evening was marked by a rich display of Lagos’ cultural heritage as white-cap chiefs and revered Lagos monarchs, elegantly dressed in flowing white regalia, filled the venue with the grandeur and symbolism reminiscent of the famous Eyo Festival. Their presence reflected the deep connection between the state’s history, tradition and modern governance.
The photographic publication captures some of the administration’s most significant milestones, including moments of resilience during periods of adversity and the progress recorded in infrastructure, healthcare, education, transportation and urban development. Through carefully curated images, the book tells the story of a government that has navigated difficult times while remaining focused on delivering dividends of democracy to Lagos residents.
Speaking at the unveiling, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the publication as more than a collection of photographs, saying it preserves the story of Lagos’ resilience, growth and transformation for future generations. He noted that every image reflects the determination of the people of Lagos and the collective efforts that have shaped the state’s progress.
The governor expressed appreciation to all those who contributed to documenting the administration’s journey, describing the book as a lasting record of leadership, perseverance and hope. He reaffirmed his commitment to building a greater Lagos through policies and projects that improve the lives of residents and strengthen the state’s position as Africa’s leading megacity.
