Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across the state as they join millions of Muslims around the world to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In his message, the Governor urged Muslims and other residents of Lagos to reflect on the virtues and teachings exemplified by the Prophet, particularly kindness, patience, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the celebration provides an opportunity for the faithful to renew their commitment to values that promote unity, mutual respect and peaceful relationships within communities.
He encouraged Lagosians to use the occasion to show greater kindness and consideration towards one another, stressing the importance of compassion and understanding in strengthening the bonds that hold society together.
The Governor also called on residents to continue supporting one another and contributing positively to the development of the state, regardless of religious, ethnic or social differences.
According to him, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad remain relevant in promoting peaceful coexistence and encouraging individuals to treat others with dignity, fairness and compassion.
Sanwo-Olu prayed for peace, joy and prosperity in the homes of Muslim faithful across Lagos, while seeking Allah’s continued guidance and blessings for the state and its people.
He also expressed hope that the celebration would bring renewed faith, happiness and unity to families and communities across Lagos.
The Governor urged residents to celebrate responsibly and use the occasion to strengthen bonds with family members, friends, neighbours and other members of their communities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and peaceful Lagos where residents can live, work and prosper irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.
Sanwo-Olu wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Maulud celebration, praying that Allah would continue to guide the state’s leaders and bless Lagos and its people.
“Eid Mubarak,” the Governor said, as he joined Muslims across Lagos in marking the significant religious occasion.
