
Lagos Governor to Deliver Keynote on Diaspora Investment
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2026 Global Transformation and Good Governance Prize by the Millennium Excellence Award USA.
The award was announced in a letter delivered to the Governor by the Board of Directors of the Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF), following a rigorous selection process that recognised his contributions to governance, development and the transformation of Lagos State.
According to the Foundation, Governor Sanwo-Olu was selected in recognition of the remarkable achievements recorded in Lagos under his administration and the State’s continued developmental trajectory.
The letter stated: “The Board has unanimously resolved to confer upon His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu one of the most prestigious honours bestowed under the auspices of the Foundation — the Global Transformation and Good Governance Prize by the Millennium Excellence Award USA.”
The award is expected to be presented to Governor Sanwo-Olu in Washington, D.C., where he will also deliver a keynote address focused on diaspora investment and its potential to accelerate economic growth and development.
The recognition further highlights Lagos State’s growing profile in governance, infrastructure development, economic transformation and strategic engagement with the global Nigerian community.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration has continued to emphasise policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening Lagos as a globally competitive city and investment destination.
The 2026 Global Transformation and Good Governance Prize is therefore expected to further spotlight the State’s development achievements and its administration’s commitment to sustainable governance and inclusive growth.
