Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled new electrification projects in the Badagry area of Lagos as part of the state government’s effort to expand power supply and improve infrastructure across underserved communities.
The projects, commissioned in Badagry, are aimed at strengthening electricity distribution and ensuring that more residents and businesses enjoy reliable power. Speaking during the event, the governor explained that the initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to improve energy access and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Sanwo-Olu noted that electricity remains a critical driver of development, adding that the new infrastructure would support small businesses, artisans, and households that depend on stable power to operate efficiently. He said the government is committed to investing in projects that will directly improve the quality of life of residents in various parts of the state.
The electrification project includes the rehabilitation and extension of major power lines, the installation of new transformers, and upgrades to existing electricity facilities in communities within Badagry. Areas expected to benefit from the development include several border communities and growing residential settlements where electricity supply has previously been inconsistent.
The governor stated that the project would help reduce power outages, improve energy distribution, and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. According to him, better electricity infrastructure would also encourage investment and boost commercial activities in the Badagry axis, which is considered an important economic corridor for Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu further reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure
