Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called for deeper collaboration between the executive arm of government and the Lagos State House of Assembly to ensure the successful completion of critical projects across Lagos before the end of his administration.
Speaking at the 19th Executive–Legislative Parley, the governor emphasized that sustained cooperation between both arms of government has been a major driving force behind the progress recorded in the state so far. He noted that Lagos has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, and education due to policies and approvals supported by lawmakers.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that his administration remains committed to delivering all ongoing projects, particularly those that have direct impact on the daily lives of residents. According to him, there will be no abandonment of key initiatives, as efforts are being intensified to ensure that projects are completed within set timelines.
The governor also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of continuity in governance. He revealed plans to introduce a proposed “Legacy and Transition Bill,” which is designed to institutionalize major policies and projects. The bill, once enacted, would help ensure that future administrations sustain and build upon the foundations laid by the current government, rather than discontinuing them.
He explained that Lagos, as Nigeria’s commercial hub, requires long-term planning and stability in governance to maintain its growth trajectory. By strengthening institutional frameworks, the state can avoid disruptions that often come with political transitions.
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly present at the parley reiterated their commitment to supporting policies that promote development and improve the welfare of citizens. They acknowledged the need for continued partnership with the executive to address emerging challenges and sustain progress.
Sanwo-Olu concluded by urging all stakeholders to remain focused on the bigger picture of development, noting that governance should go beyond individual tenures. He expressed confidence that with sustained legislative backing, Lagos will continue to set the pace in innovation, infrastructure development, and economic growth in Nigeria.
The renewed call for collaboration underscores the administration’s determination to leave behind a legacy of completed projects and strong institutions that will benefit residents long after the current government’s tenure ends.
